Adrian Mendonsa

Drexel faculty mentor: Jason Baxter

Adrian Mendonsa is a chemical engineering student who is pursuing a minor in Chemistry. Adrian first started conducting research through the STAR Scholars program in Dr. Jason Baxter's group where he studied and modeled the recombination lifetimes of charged carriers in perovskite oxides thin films. He did his first co-op at PQ Corporation as a R&D Assistant, and for his second co-op he received a grant from the "Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdiens" (DAAD) to research paint formulation techniques and to design an abrasion characterization apparatus at the Technische Universität Braunschweig in Germany. With all these experiences he is hoping to start working on his bachelor's thesis through his junior and senior year.
 
Adrian is also a very active member in the Drexel community. He used to be the event coordinator for Drexel AIChE before being elected as Vice-president in 2017-18. He is also a member of the Undergraduate Research Leaders (URL), is a tutor for the Engineering Learning Community (ELC), and was the vice- chair of Dragon'24. After graduation Adrian hopes to attend graduate school to obtain a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. He hopes that with these qualifications he can go into academia and find new ways to minimize the gap between industry and academia, while continuing his research in the field of renewable energy.
